In January 2019, Woolworths removed a number of baby carriers whose design was allegedly copied by a South African designer and manufacturer (Ubuntu Baba) and sold at a third of the price of the Ubuntu Baba version. The baby carrying scandal erupted after Ubuntu Baba`s Shannon McLaughlin wrote a blog post about it, which later became a popular topic on social media.
